PENGUIN VIEWING CLOSED
Due to COVID-19, Parks Victoria will be installing temporary fencing and preventing access onto the breakwater as of the 15th March. This decision has been made for the welfare of volunteers, PV employees and visitors. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.
The breakwater at the end of St Kilda pier, Melbourne, Australia is home to a colony of ~1400 little penguins (Scientific name: Eudyptula minor).
These penguins have been the subject of a study since 1986 and can be viewed by the public every night of the week. Earthcare St Kilda are a not-for-profit organisation responsible for researching and managing the colony. Find us on Facebook to get regular updates about the colony.
